Ban Dalah Resort, Pai – A Countryside Oasis
As we rolled into the now familiar town nestled into the mountain valley, breathing in the Pai air, it felt like coming home. We pointed out our favorite restaurants to Jmayel’s mum and dad as we passed and let the ease of being in Pai take over us.
Now on our 4th visit to the village and having J’s parents with us, we wanted to stay somewhere that would enhance the experience and let the beauty of Pai shine through.
For our hotel we chose Ban Dalah Resort, Pai which we booked online through Agoda. Not having stayed here before we weren’t entirely sure what to expect but we knew the location and that was what sold it for us. Driving down an unpaved road 2km from the main town, there we found Ban Dalah.
Greeted by the 2 resident dogs, we were shown to the reception area where the owner Susie received us warmly. A dog lover and former cocker spaniel owner herself, Eden was a welcome sight.
We were shown to our rooms, 2 out of the 10 deluxe bungalow suites available and as I walked in, I actually said WOW. It was stunning, as soon as we entered we could see straight through to the countryside views and our own private balcony which was equipped with wooden table and chairs, fridge, sink and coffee making facilities.
The modern styled room and bathroom were both pristine and next door Jmayel’s dad was a happy man when he realized there was a flat screen television.

Our fantastic view
We checked in and relaxed after the drive from Chiang Mai and then headed into town for a late lunch and of course a leisurely coffee and slice of cake from our favorite café.
Later that night after we had a delicious Thai dinner and strolled around the walking street market stalls, we went back to the hotel with a takeaway box of chocolate ginger pie where Jmayel and I sat out on the large balcony and stargazed (after a quick photoshoot!) A hint of romance in the air.
Making use of the balcony
We woke up in the morning after a superb night’s sleep. The bed was fantastic and one of the comfiest I have ever slept in, something that the hotel owner prides herself on. It seemed criminal not to sleep in late and have a lazy lie in before enjoying an American style breakfast of salad, meat, eggs, juice and coffee.
J & his mum having breakfast
All of the bungalows face east and have a glorious panaramic view across the rice fields to the mountains beyond. A great setting to watch the sunrise from your very own terrace.
J’s mum & dad on their balcony
Ban Dalah Resort was a place that I didn’t want to leave, in fact one day I didn’t. Jmayel took his mum and dad to the nearby Mo Paeng waterfall while I opted to stay at the hotel, I sat out on the balcony, made myself a coffee, and watched the field workers harvesting the grain, a mountainous backdrop provided the setting for the little movie playing out in front of me, the ever changing landscape, the fast moving clouds above and the sound of the stream just below my feet, I couldn’t think of a nicer place to be sitting.
Our balcony & view
Our only regret was that we didn’t book an extra night and I was actually a bit disappointed to be leaving. I could have sat on my little balcony chilling out for days!
The deluxe bungalows
We will definitely stay here again, without hesitation. If you are after a relaxing, charming and peaceful place to stay in the captivating Pai, Ban Dalah comes highly recommended.
