Chiang Mai was the first place that we lived in Thailand, and now that we’ve lived in Portugal for years we can compare the cost of living in Thailand to Europe and give you an idea of which country might be more affordable these days.
We start our little nostalgia tour of Thailand at the amazing All About Coffee Chiang Mai Cafe where our friend Wat welcomes us warmly and we reminisce about past visits. Here we compare the price of coffee and a cafe lunch to a similar establishment in Lisbon.
Then we head to Doi Pui a beautiful flower garden in the mountains to see some of the local hilltribe ornaments and prices. Phwah Phwah is in her element playing with Story amidst the flowers.
Next we use Thailands GRAB App to get food delivered to our apartment and share the prices of a Vegan takeaway.
After we go to the Maya Mall to compare Thailand shopping centre prices to that of a European one. We get some groceries from a high end supermarket before heading home.
We share the cost of a fancy vegan breakfast at Free Bird Cafe Chiang Mai and talk about local food and charities.
Then we take a trip back down memory lane to see our old friends, AND our old house in Chiang Mai too, which gave us a bit of a shock!
