April 5th 2020 – Yesterday after we finished vlogging we got news of emergency flights from the Philippines to the UK. Sacha’s mum had seen an article on the BBC and sent it to us, a few hours later J’s mum requested that we immediately book her a place on the waiting list because she is feeling desperate to get back to her home.
It has been an emotional 24 hours, because we really don’t want her to go. We still feel like we are in the safest and most beautiful location to ride out this pandemic. At 71 years old and in the high risk group we spent as much time as we could trying to convince her that she should reconsider. But psychologically she has said that she has hit her limit and just wants to go home.
Somehow we are going to have to explain to Story why we are staying here and her Phwah Phwah is leaving. But we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. We are still secretly hoping that she doesn’t get a seat on the repatriation flight and the choice to stay will be made for her.
