March 22nd 2020 – With yesterdays announcement of emergency mandatory quarantine, we woke up this morning and decided to stay positive. We believe that our health is massively effected by our state of mind, and stress and worry will only weaken us in a time when we need to be as strong and healthy as possible.
As foreigners stranded in Siargao, we have less control over our position under quarantine here and so we thought we’d skip reading the news and just try to have a healthy day with each other as a family. Starting with exercise and then a full day just playing with our 3 year old daughter Story.
The super friendly residents brought extra toys for Story and she was delighted to try riding a big bike with pedals. We feel like Siargao is the perfect little island to be quarantined right now despite the lockdown, a beautiful little oasis.
As the day went on we found out some more information about the emergency military flight to Manila, apparently there were over 300 people waiting at the tiny Siargao airport, being boarded on a first come first served basis. We are glad we weren’t exposed to that and will be gladly waiting out this pandemic here in the Philippines for another month or so.
For now we are going to upload a daily video diary of the Siargao Island Lockdown scenario. This is day 5. Our regular family travel vlogs will resume publishing later.
