North Siargao has a more difficult job ahead! How to bring life and business back to the more remote parts of this little Philippines Island. It’s SO BEAUTIFUL up in Northern Siargao but it takes around 1h30m to ride up there so many people don’t make the trip. But it is so worth it.
In today’s video we discover LOKAL Snackbar and Market in BURGOS, a little community cafe and project that is really boosting the local economy by helping Filipinos to sell their farm produce to customers from all over the island. It really is amazing what a bit of good marketing on social media and some artistic flare can do for a local business.
Not only does the snack bar provide an incentive to visit and eat, but the market is full of amazing locally grown greens, and hand weaved coconut baskets and wares to buy. We really think that all of Siargao needs to do a similar movement in each town to spread the money spent to places other than General Luna.

Right now the place can’t afford to keep their cafe open due to the lack of tourism but the rooms are still an amazing peaceful place to stay.
We end the evening with lots of friends and witness the power of word of mouth at a local rooftop restaurant! Then head to Aqwa Siargao for dinner and sunset moments.
