Even Portuguese locals don’t talk about this place, but they should! It’s amazing. We found REAL DINOSAUR FOOTPRINTS in a fantastic Nature park called Serra de Aire e Candeeiros. It’s definitely not the kind of place that pops up on the usual tourist trails so if you’re looking for a unique experience on your trip to Portugal. Save this video and go check out the locations for yourself.
We started in Vale De Meios where we found the dinosaur footprints.
Then we headed to Olhos de Agua to see a beautiful river beach which we reckon would be a smash hit in the summer time.
After a quick picnic we went to the largest cave in Portugal which was AMAZING. The best we’ve ever seen. Grutas de Mira de Aire it was called.
Then we had tea at Sweet Vintage cafe before heading to Fórnea – Porto de Mós to see an epic viewpoint in a landscape that reminded us a lot of the Yorkshire dales in the UK.
Finally we saw a really cool Salt Mine called Salinas de Rio Maior, it had little wooden shacks lining the road that sold gifts and local produce.
We tried to end the day by finding fossilized shells in the rocks but it all got a bit ‘off road’ so we’ll have to save that for another day.
