We got stranded in Siargao during the Philippines lockdown. All our flights got cancelled, and rescheduling is not allowed until the government imposed quarantine is over.
We had to stock up on food in the main town of General Luna, so we filmed an ‘on the ground’ report of what it looks like on the usually very busy street of Tourism Road.
We visit Tag Grocery to check out whether panic buying and hoarding had begun and observe the local cafes and restaurants to see whether the stores were going to shut down or remain open.
On the way home we took a look at one of the most usually busy surfing areas to find only a fraction of people there. It had a calm but eerie feel considering there were hundreds of people there just a few days back.
For now we are going to upload a daily video diary of the Siargao Island Lockdown scenario. This is day 1. Our regular family travel vlogs will resume publishing later.
