March 24th 2020 – Things feel weird here, stranded in the Philippines under Mandatory Lockdown on the Island of Siargao. Today is the day that we were supposed to be flying back to the UK and our 3 month trip around Asia was supposed to end. But instead we are listening to the sound of the ocean on an almost deserted island. I think we made the right choice to stay.
As British foreigners we are obviously tracking the UK news and we found out that England had finally declared it’s own Coronavirus related Lockdown procedure in the night. Our families in the UK are distancing from each other and the fear is beginning to increase a little. To be honest we are glad to not be there right now. We feel much safer here with the laid back Filipino Islanders after reading about the panic and the confusion back home.
Life is about to get much easier here now that we have been issued with Household Quarantine passes that will allow us to pass through Police checkpoints and get supplies from the main town of General Luna. We are very happy about that.
Today was all about staying home with family, so Story and daddy fixed the BMX bike and then mummy took Story for an amazing paddle in the warm sea opposite our beautiful villa.
For now we are going to upload a daily video diary of the Siargao Island Lockdown scenario. This is day 7. Our regular family travel vlogs will resume publishing later.
