During our recent trip into the hills of Mae Hong Son, we stayed at Boondee House. A very central location in the town, just metres from the base of Doi Kong Mu temple and a 5 minute walk from Jong Kham lake.
The guesthouse had a friendly owner but was basic, with just a handful of rooms and definitely no frills, which is reflected in the price.
The room itself was decent and clean, with good A/C. It was equipped with a fridge, television and microwave as well as a private bathroom, which you need to go out onto the balcony to access.
Though the guesthouse is pet friendly there was no garden or outside space and so we walked Eden around the streets, which was fine and we didn’t encounter many street dogs.
Apart from Boondee House, there are a few other pet friendly hotels in Mae Hong Son town which I have listed below:
Ban Kiangdoi Hotel
This 3 star hotel has 20 rooms which all have their own balcony, teak furnishings and fridges with complimentary bottled water. It is located near the town centre with a garden and onsite restaurant.
The private bathrooms have bathtubs, which is rare in Thailand.
Fern Resort
30 wooden bungalows in a jungle setting, this resort is a nature lovers paradise just 10 minutes from Mae Hong Son town centre. A great garden with an onsite swimming pool and restaurant.
Children under 12 stay for free and parking, wi-fi and a laundry service is available.
Pana Huts
Bamboo, fan huts with hot showers just a 10 minute walk from Mae Hong Son town, bicycles are available to hire.
Herntai Resort
This resort was my top choice to stay, then I realised that though it is in the Mae Hong Son province, it is not actually anywhere near Mae Hong Son itself and is in fact 130km away in Mae La Noi.
Rooms here come with fan or A/C and complimentary bottled water. Wi-Fi access is available throughout the resort. There is an onsite restaurant, nice outdoor space and peaceful countryside views.
