Living and driving in Thailand can be quite a mystery if you have never been on Thai roads. So we decided to record the entire 1000km journey from Chiang Rai to Bangkok. In this video we drive through the night, drop off Chloe our friends dog in Chiang Mai, get onto highway 1, stop off at a Petrol station with a 7-11 for a snack and a wee stop for Eden the dog, watch the sun rise, fill up with some LPG, drive through a rain storm, use Sacha’s smartphone as a Sat Nav and eventually find our way to the iCheck inn Residences Sathorn Pet Friendly Hotel and Apartments in Bangkok. We honestly don’t think that driving in Thailand is as bad as people say, so we hope this video will give some people the confidence to give it a try before they write off the idea entirely. 😉
Personally we feel that there is a lot less aggression from Thai drivers, the pace is definitely slower than the UK motorways and even when covering almost the entire length of the country we didn’t feel uneasy or unsafe once. 🙂
