Cafe in Thaton – A small café in a small town with great food and a friendly owner
If you’re passing through the town and looking for a nice cafe in Thaton or maybe get an urge for some really tasty Thai food, stopping for a break at Pattra Café could be well worth your time.
Pattra Cafe in Thaton
We had driven through Thaton a few times on journeys around the North yet never stopped or noticed anything actually worth stopping for. We were always on our way to somewhere else and had left the town as quickly as we had arrived.
Yet when we made the decision to spend a few nights in Thaton, we found a delightful little café serving some amazing food.
We stayed at Sappaya guesthouse while in Thaton and the owner Nang introduced us to her friend Pim, who owned a café just over the bridge. We went there for dinner on our first night and we were really impressed with the quality of the food.
The little café is in its early days, recently opened it was still waiting to be crowned with its official ‘Pattra’ sign for the wall. Yet not only was it the delicious food that made us keep going back to Pattra café while we were in town, the owner Pim was a delight in herself.
If you like a warm welcome when you sit down for dinner, or order a fruit smoothie, this is a place you will get it.
Pim happily sits and chats with her customers and shows you what’s on the menu or will recommend to you what to eat. We tried out a good selection of food from the menu and nothing disappointed.
From Pork and basil to vegetable fried rice, everything was good quality and served in big portions. The banana smoothie is also a real winner.

If you have more of a sweet tooth, Pattra café prides itself on serving up huge Belgium style waffles. We had the banana and chocolate waffles for breakfast one morning and were filled up for hours!
If you ever pass through Thaton or perhaps end up there after a boat trip from Chiang Rai, pop in to Pattra Café and tell Pim we said Hello!!
