A Hotel Review of the Countryside Resort in Pai, North Thailand
No trip further North would be complete without a little jaunt to Pai.
We just can’t stay away and we found ourselves there for the night once again after our Mae Hong Son visit.
This time we stayed at The Countryside Resort in Mae Yen.
A great place, cheap accommodation and just a couple of minutes from the main town, yet it feels like you are much further out in the countryside.
Surrounded by green fields and mountains, it really is picturesque scenery and with a nice little outdoor swimming pool in the garden that topped off the stay perfectly.
We made good use of the pool during our stay!
The rooms come in the form of detached round huts. They are basic, yet equipped with a private hot shower bathroom, comfy bed, bottled water and a choice of fan or A/C.
Our room was right outside a large pond, pretty though it was, it also gave us lots of mossies and plenty of little jumpy frogs right outside our door!
All of the huts have their own little roof terraces which is a great touch. We watched the sunset over the mountains from ours before we headed into town for dinner.

The only drawback to the resort is that it is located down a narrow unpaved road with a stream on one side, so if you are planning on staying out late at night it could be a interesting walk back to the room, especially after sampling the many bars!
We went to Na’s Kitchen for dinner. This little wooden restaurant has quickly become a firm favorite of ours. Home style, cheap, authentic Thai food and it is always busy which is a good sign of great food!
Of course, no visit to Pai would be complete without consuming our weight in baked goods from All About Coffee. It never lets us down.
