March 25th 2020 – As a foreign family stranded in Siargao Philippines during the Corona Virus Pandemic we were initially unsure how we’d feel stuck here. But as the time goes on we are more and more certain that our choice to stay here was the best one.
Looking at the news around the world we honestly think that we’re safer here in the Philippines where the people aren’t panicking. They are taking swift measures to contain the spread of the Covid-19 Virus and the population is sparse with lots of free space to live and grow food.
Today J took his mum out into the local village. We took every precaution necessary of course, and we are still able to get lots of fresh produce from the mini shops within walking distance.
We took some time today to catch up on our work while Story was sleeping and we got a little sad reminder that by today we would’ve have been back with our dog Eden if this Pandemic hadn’t gripped the world so suddenly.
Siargao is an amazing place and the people here have made us feel so welcome.
For now we are going to upload a daily video diary of the Siargao Island Lockdown scenario. This is day 8. Our regular family travel vlogs will resume publishing later.
