April 4th 2020 – Day 17 of Community Quarantine on Siargao in the Philippines. We woke up feeling positive and grateful to be here in such a beautiful place. Yes of course the strict road checkpoints, curfew and liquor ban are unsettling factors but you soon learn to live around them.
The fruit and veg guy came with lots of juicy mangoes so Sacha made a little picnic to eat down on the sand at the bottom of the garden.
Story wanted to dress up like a mermaid and then took full creative control over the vlog and even asked to direct a scene! She did an amazing job.
While the sun was setting we talk about how we have been feeling so welcome here by the local people and the community nearby. There is a good mix of Filipino and foreign people living together in a close neighbourhood surrounded by peace and quiet. Because of the uncertainty of the situation we were discussing a plan B with the locals and this island sounds like a good contender for a place to build a life perhaps in the future.
For now we are going to upload a daily video diary of the Siargao Island Lockdown scenario. This is day 18. Our regular family travel vlogs will resume publishing later.
